🗑️ Delete your account

This is a courtesy translation. The legally binding version is the Italian one; in case of any discrepancy, the Italian text prevails.

This page explains how to delete your Giffit account and which data is erased. Deletion is free, immediate and permanent.

1. From the app (recommended)

1. Open Giffit on your phone and sign in.
2. Go to the Profile tab.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap Delete account.
5. Confirm when prompted.

Your account and its data are removed immediately, with no waiting period and no way to restore them.

2. If you cannot access the app

If you have lost access to your phone or to your account, email info@giffit.me from the email address you registered with, stating that you want your Giffit account deleted.

We handle requests within 30 days (GDPR Art. 12), normally within a few business days. We may ask you to verify your identity if the request does not come from the registered email address — this prevents someone else from deleting your account.

3. What gets deleted

The following is permanently erased together with your account:

• Your sign-in credentials (email, password, Google/Apple link)
• Your profile: name, username, photo, date of birth, interests, dislikes
• Sizes and measurements
• Your wishlists and the gifts in them
• Your events and recurring occasions
• Your connections with other users, and invitations sent or received
• Your chat messages
• Your notifications and push notification token
• The consents you gave and the history of suggestions generated for you

4. What may survive deletion

Some content does not disappear, because it does not belong to you alone:

• Group gifts you took part in: they remain visible to the other participants, no longer linked to your profile.
• Technical and security logs (sign-ins, errors): kept only as long as strictly necessary for the security of the service, then deleted automatically.
• Backup copies: encrypted database backups may still contain your data until they expire (at most 30 days), after which they are overwritten.
• Data we are legally required to keep, if any (e.g. correspondence relating to a legal claim).

5. Just want a copy of your data?

Before deleting your account you can exercise your right of access (GDPR Art. 15) and request a copy of your data by writing to info@giffit.me. After deletion the data cannot be recovered, so do this first.
